Natural Dyeing with Trudi and Helena Pollard
Join Lost Eden Creative for their “Autumn Workshops” series of creative workshops inspired by the environment that surrounds Lost Eden Farm Studio, perched in the unique forests of Dwellingup. Each workshop is presented by a leading Western Australian artist who will guide and inspire you to create something truly unique.
Trudi and Helena Pollard are a mother and daughter team who both love textiles and natural dyes.
Considered a textile art pioneer and foremost expert on Western Australian natural dyes, Trudi has been working, studying, lecturing and teaching in the areas of textile arts and ceramics for more than 40 years. Helena uses the most contemporary textile techniques and manipulations in wearable art. Together their philosophy is to encourage people to be inspired an embrace their own creativity.
During this workshop, Trudi and Helena teach you the basics and their secrets of effective sustainable natural dyeing practice from Western Australian plants. You’ll also learn a number of shibori techniques on your own silk scarf, to create patterns using dye by folding, clamping and twisting materials. Be fascinated by the amazing colours you will discover and you’re encouraged to explore and connect to the environment through the use of colours and patterns.
